Watch your child come alive with language!
Every interaction counts.
The first few years of life are a critical time for the brain’s rapid growth and development. Right this minute, your child’s brain is building more than one million nerve connections every second!
The most important thing you (and other adults in your child's life) can do to help build strong connections is talk with your child!
Why should my child participate in LENA Grow?
LENA Grow offers many benefits for everyone: your child, your child's teacher, and YOU!
As your child participates in LENA Grow, you may notice them:
- Saying more words and saying new words.
- Increasing in confidence.
- Forming a stronger relationship with their teacher.
- Better expressing their feelings and needs, which can lead to fewer challenging behaviors.
After a LENA Day...
Your child's teacher participates in a weekly coaching session. They review LENA Day data as well as learn new techniques and talk strategies.
Not only do teachers practice engaging children in quality talk, you can too! Families receive weekly resources to use at home.
Your child’s safety and privacy are important to you — and to us.
The LENA device is small, 100% safe, and 100% private.
- Meets safety standards for electronics and toys.
- Uses the same type of low-power processors as hearing aids.
- Does not transmit a signal like cell phones.
LENA does not understand or transcribe any words in any language. It cannot play back audio.
What is it like to use LENA Grow?
What teachers want you to know about using LENA Grow.
Some of the behavior we see all the time with the littles; learning how to self-regulate, learning how to be a little more patient, learning how to use their words. Those behaviors really kind of went away. Because we are engaged. And we are creating a family of learners in our classroom.
Children have the right to voice how they feel, what’s going on in their mind, and what’s going on inside of them. Even the quietest ones have opened up and are talking more. Helping them develop more words will make them feel stronger and make them more confident in talking to a teacher or their friends.
LENA has really helped us build language skills, especially in large group activities. It also helps us build social skills, like taking turns while the children are talking. It really has allowed us to give the children time to respond back to the adults, and the adults to respond back to the children. It really has helped us a lot.
